Survivor South Africa: Santa Carolina

''Survivor South Africa: Santa Carolina''〔http://www.mnet.co.za/Survivor/Article/Article.aspx?ArticleID=10〕 is the third season of the South African reality television show ''Survivor South Africa''. With (Nico Panagio ) replacing Mark Bayly as host, the show premiered on 20 January 2010 and aired on Wednesdays for fourteen weeks on M-Net until the ninety-minute live season finale on 21 April 2010. M-Net also commissioned a 15th episode that had a look at the whole series with retrospective views from all the contestants.
The season was filmed on the small island of Santa Carolina, a member of the Bazaruto Archipelago off the southern coast of Mozambique. The castaways (eight women and ten men) lived amongst white sand beaches, coral reefs and buildings left abandoned by the Mozambican Civil War, including a prison and a hotel. The two original tribes were named Chibudu and Timbila, after local Chopi words for "harmony" and "togetherness", and the merged tribe name, Kululama, means "strength."
Several new twists were introduced to the established ''Survivor'' formula. In a departure from the first two seasons, the cast was made up entirely of South African celebrities, each of whom was playing the game to raise money for a charity of their choice. The number of castaways was increased to eighteen. Exile Island and the hidden immunity idol were imported from the American version of the show. Also, for the first time the viewing public was able to influence the outcome of the game. The audience was allowed to vote for a winner out of the two finalists via internet or text message voting. The finalist with the most votes received one jury vote.
In the end, 42-year-old exotic dancer and club owner Perle "GiGi" van Schalkwyk was crowned the Sole Survivor in a 6-3 decision over television presenter Ashley Hayden, winning R500,000 for her charity, a Hospice in Johannesburg.
== Contestants ==

:''The Total Votes is the number of votes a castaway has received during Tribal Councils where the castaway is eligible to be voted out of the game. It does not include the votes received during the final Tribal Council.''
